How to Prepare Your Home for a Photo Shoot

According to design experts, there are several ways to prep different spaces in a home for a professional photo shoot. Since each step isn’t complex, you can transform dull areas quite quickly without spending a lot of money.

Use Props

Many stylists place citrus fruits in strategic spots throughout a kitchen because they're very popular styling props. If you’d like to use this strategy, you must tuck away everything that you normally keep on your counters.

Use Flowers

If a space needs a pop of color, you can make the environment more appealing by placing plants on every shelf. Bright, colorful flowers should be used in spaces that have white walls because the vibrant pedals will stand out against the blank background.

Arrange the Coffee Table

To create impressive photos, remove all unnecessary items off of your coffee table, such as notebooks, magazines, and cups. A bowl of mints and a vase filled with flowers are the only items that should be featured on the table.

Remove Clutter from Bookshelves

If you have a lot of magazines that hang from your shelves, you may want to remove them because clutter makes photos look unprofessional. Bookshelves need a reasonable amount of empty space, so you should only showcase a few household objects on each panel.

Use the Fireplace

In the den, consider lighting your fireplace before the photo shoot begins. The flames in the background will create ambient light, which will enhance photographs.
